Coordinator-EHS, Compliance, Training
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee development and adherence to the safety program in chemical manufacturing and distribution operation.
- Coordinate EHS and safety training, including on-boarding/new hire training.
- Assist in development and implementation of training documentation and procedures for operations and safety in compliance with ISO 9001.
- Maintain annual OSHA incident reports (300, 300A and 301) and other relevant records.
- Complete environmental reporting such as Tier II and Form R reports.
- Coordinate EPA Pesticide registrations and reporting, as required.
- Coordinate compliance with FDA and other relevant regulations applicable to company products and operations.
- Ensure thorough review of all near misses or accidents and manage the medical response as needed, including workman’s compensation claims.
- Coordination of proper supply of safety and environmental supplies.
- Assist in or coordinate waste water treatment, waste disposal, drinking water permitting and air permitting.
- Develop and maintain sustainability and recycling initiatives in line with company core values and relevant customer driven initiatives.
- Ability to coordinate development of packaging to meet customer and product requirements.
- Assist as needed in developing compliant language for SDS, TDS and product labels.
- Assist and coordinate in development of training materials, records and ISO related documentation.
- Assist and coordinate Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives for various functions of the business.
- Coordinate and assist in project management and resolution of shop floor and other operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- EHS compliance knowledge and experience preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour Training, preferred.
- Ability to keep up with evolving regulatory environment and maintain the appropriate training needed.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.
- Must have the ability to communicate well with employees from all levels.
- Point of contact for federal, state, and local regulators and inspectors (OSHA, EPA, IDEM).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, presentation skills.
- General knowledge of OSHA Safety Regulations, including: Chemical Exposure, LOTO, Environmental Action Plan, Fall Protection, PPE, Forklift operation, First Aid and ability to stay up to date with changes and developments.
- Awareness of and ability to keep up with RCRA, SARA, and other environmental regulations.
- Perform audits to ensure compliance with safety best practices, regulatory requirements and general adherence to best practices in conformance to ISO 9001.
- Flexibility with work hours required from time to time.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- The candidate must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including climbing stairs.
- This position requires adherence with DOT Drug and Alcohol testing requirements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must be able to perform safety inspections and respond to emergencies.
